Rite of Passage

Created to celebrate the accomplishments of Black scholars in the Bellevue School District, the “Rites of Passage” ceremony has been designed to commemorate students’ progression from middle school to high school and high school to college. The “Rites of Passage” ceremony draws from a rich tradition present in nearly every culture to celebrate the community’s enthusiasm and respect in their youth as they mature into adulthood. Rites of passage ceremonies foster in youth a sense of pride in themselves and newfound responsibility to their community. More information can be found below.
